“저희가 암비볼리와 아볼로니아로 다녀가 데살로니가에 이르니 거기 유대인의 회당이 있는지라”(행 17: 1).
사도행전은 사도들의 행적을 기록한 책입니다. 그 먼 길을 사도들은 어떻게 다녔을까? 로마 제국엔 잘 닦인 도로가 있었습니다. 그러나 사도들은 마차나 말을 타고 다닌 것이 아니라 걸어 다녔습니다. 그리고, 유대인의 회당을 찾아 복음을 전했습니다. 고생이야 이루 말할 수 없었겠죠. 그러나 그들은 그것을 고생으로 여기지 않았고 오히려 기쁨으로 여겼습니다.
“주님, 새 아침 주셔서 감사합니다. 사도들의 마음을 감동하셨던 성령이시여, 저희의 마음을 감동하사 기쁨과 즐거움으로 복음 전하게 하옵소서. 저희들 너무 편한 것만 찾고 있습니다. 안일과 나태에 빠진 저희를 깨우쳐 주시옵소서. 예수님 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.”
“They traveled through Amphipolis and Apollonia and came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue.” (Acts 17:1)
The Book of Acts records the journeys and works of the apostles. How did they travel such long distances? The Roman Empire had well‑built roads, but the apostles did not ride in carriages—they walked. And wherever they went, they sought out Jewish synagogues to proclaim the gospel. Their hardships must have been beyond description. Yet they did not consider them hardships; instead, they counted them as joy.
“Lord, thank You for giving us a new morning. Holy Spirit who moved the hearts of the apostles, move our hearts as well, so that we may proclaim the gospel with joy and gladness. We confess that we seek comfort too easily. Deliver us from our complacency and awaken us. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
