“보라 이제 나는 심령에 매임을 받아 예루살렘으로 가는데 저기서 무슨 일을 만날는지 알지 못하노라” (행 20: 22).
바울이 에베소 장로들에게 예루살렘에 올라가 무슨 일을 당할지 알지 못한다고 말합니다. 그는 이미 성령의 지시를 받아 ‘결박과 환란’이 기다리고 있음을 알았습니다. 그러나, ‘주 예수께 받은 사명 곧 하나님의 은혜의 복음 증거하는 일’을 마치려 함에는 자기 생명도 귀한 것으로 여기지 않겠다고 말합니다. 하나님께 받은 복음 전파의 사명은 이렇게 소중했습니다.

“And now, behold, I am going to Jerusalem, bound in spirit, not knowing what will happen to me there.” (Acts 20:22)
Paul tells the elders of Ephesus that he does not know what awaits him when he goes up to Jerusalem. Yet he already knows, through the prompting of the Holy Spirit, that “imprisonment and afflictions” are waiting for him. Even so, he declares that he does not consider his own life precious to himself if only he may finish the task he received from the Lord Jesus—the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace. The mission of proclaiming the gospel entrusted to him by God was that precious.
“Lord, thank You for granting a new day.Help me, like the Apostle Paul, to live today in faith in You, and to value the mission of proclaiming the gospel more dearly than my own life.
Let me live as Your child in a manner worthy of Your child, and as a citizen of Your kingdom in a manner worthy of Your kingdom.In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”
