“내가 땅에 엎드러져 들으니 소리 있어 가로되 사울아 사울아 네가 왜 나를 핍박하느냐 하시거늘, 내가 대답하되 주여 뉘시니이까 하니 가라사대 나는 네가 핍박하는 나사렛 예수라 하시더라” (행 22: 7-8).
예수 믿는 이들을 핍박하던 사울이 다메섹 도상에서 부활하신 주님을 만났습니다. 교회를 핍박하는 것은 주님을 핍박하는 것입니다. 교회는 그의 몸이요, 그는 교회의 머리로 그와 교회는 하나입니다. 그래서 교회를 핍박하는 사울에게 주님은 말씀하셨습니다: “네가 왜 나를 핍박하느냐?” “나는 네가 핍박하는 나사렛 예수라” 오늘도 주님은 당신의 몸을 돌보십니다.
“주님, 새 날 주심 감사합니다. 머리 되신 주께서 명하신 대로 몸 된 저희는 그대로 따릅니다. 저희들 주님의 명을 받고 순종하는 건강한 교회가 되게 하옵소서. 오늘도 주의 종들을 오른 손에 잡으시고 몸 된 교회들을 보살펴 주시옵소서. 예수님 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.”
“I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’ I answered, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ He said, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, the One you are persecuting.’” (Acts 22:7–8)
Saul, who had been persecuting those who believed in Jesus, met the risen Lord on the road to Damascus. To persecute the church is to persecute the Lord Himself. The church is His body, and He is the head of the church. They are one. That is why the Lord said to Saul, “Why are you persecuting Me?” and “I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.” Even today, the Lord cares for His body, the church.
“Lord, thank You for giving us a new day. As the Head of the church, You lead us, and as Your body, we follow Your command. Make us a healthy church that listens and obeys Your word. Hold Your servants in Your right hand today, and watch over the churches that belong to You. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
