“주를 섬겨 금식할 때에 성령이 가라사대 내가 불러 시키는 일을 위하여 바나바와 사울을 따로 세우라 하시니, 이에 금식하며 기도하고 두 사람에게 안수하여 보내니라” (행 13: 2-3).
주님께서는 ‘열둘을 택하여 사도라’ (눅 6: 13) 부르셨고, 성령께서는 바나바와 바울을 따로 세워 파송하게 하셨습니다. 그래서, 안디옥 교회는 ‘금식하며 기도하고 두 사람에게 안수하여’ 최초의 이방 선교사를 파송하였습니다. 사도나 선교사는 모두 예수를 증거하기 위해 보내심을 받은 분들입니다. 그들은 이 귀한 사명 위해 목숨도 아끼지 않았습니다.
“주님, 새 날을 허락해 주셔서 감사합니다. 바나바와 바울 같이, 많은 선교사들이 우리 나라까지 찾아와 복음 전해 주셨고, 지금은 온 세계에 우리 한국의 선교사들이 파송되어 주님을 증거합니다. 그들에게 큰 은혜 내려 주옵소서. 예수님 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.”
“While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’ So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.” (Acts 13:2–3)
The Lord “chose twelve, whom He also named apostles” (Luke 6:13), and the Holy Spirit set apart Barnabas and Paul to be sent out. Thus, the church in Antioch, after “fasting, praying, and laying their hands on them,” commissioned the first missionaries to the Gentiles. Apostles and missionaries alike are those who are sent to bear witness to Jesus. They did not spare even their lives for this precious calling.
“Lord, thank You for granting a new day. Just as Barnabas and Paul were sent, many missionaries came all the way to our nation and brought us the gospel. And now, missionaries from Korea are being sent throughout the world to testify of You. Pour out abundant grace upon them. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.”
